100% that is torpedograss. I have it infested throughout my centipede yard of the house I just purchased last year. It is a royal pain in the arse, and I don't even know what to do about it. My neighbor has it now too, and I don't believe he had it before I did.

This is what I have (I swear I cut my grass we just got back from vacation and this shite grows FAST in the summer). My back yard is infested, like almost half the yard. It started in a large low spot that stays damp for days after a hard rain. I planned on doing it this year, but will have to wait until next spring now, but I want to kill the shite out of my whole yard, till, level, top soil and sod with St. Aug.

@bootlegger, what height do you mow your centipede grass?

I have been seeing recommendations on both ends of the spectrum 1.25"-1.5" up to 3".

Around 2.5-2.75. Helps smother out competing weeds, hides the bumps in my yard (that I need to address), and I can get a decent striping effect at that height.

You haven't had any issues with excessive thatch? I know most websites say centipede should be less than 2 inches but my yard is not even so I need to be at least 2.5 to not scalp in areas.

Let's say I know a guy who has bump and hole issues in his yard. How does one address that?

I'm leveling mine gradually with sand and topsoil. I really need a bobcat to take down some high spots. 20 yards of dirt so far. It's not the easiest job.

How do you know when to put down sand and when to put down topsoil? You just periodically sprinkle some of it around in the low spots? I don't want to just dump dirt down and kill the existing grass that is in the bumps and holes.

I'm not a pro but it definitely looks like you are cutting too short. The far right looks scalped. When you cut your grass, you are cutting way too short and likely not often enough if you are getting brown spots after cutting.

Longer grass is WAAAAY easier to take care of.

Core aeration helps with thatch, as does periodically I will start mowing at the center and blow all the clippings outwards to the woods.

I'm slowly correcting the dimples and ruts with slow layers of sand. Stump holes and such I'll add topsoil.
