It means the people that sued get their land / water bottoms back. So a lot of folks that have been hunting for free - won’t

I felt all along it would. They have needed a 1/2 reduction in pressure.
Gonna need a sheriffs flotilla

Read the opinion Alex. The Supremes upheld the plaintiffs ownership of the Lake, but took their damages for the States flooding of their land away. It’s over, and now there will be a war on that Lake this fall.

Sounds like the Discovery Channel could have a new show “Duck Wars”

So what happens to all the wildlife living in the lake. The public own the game, including the fish. Anytime a private landowner wishes to fence his property to house pen raised deer, he must first push out all the wild publicly owned game. So what will happen to all those fish these landowners aren't legally entitled to own. Does this means we as citizens can remove them by any means necessary, as in electrical shocking, commercial nets, etc? These landowners aren't entitled to a private lake that was stocked by a state agency.

Will be quite interesting around September. Assuming the heirs know what’s theirs and can post or get the law involved?

First thing that will likely happen is the State is going to dynamite the control structure. Therefore, there won’t be any fish to take.

They should do that then. Leave one huge mud wallow for the feral hogs to enjoy.

I have a decent spot now so don’t have as much of a skin in the game but royally frick all the squatters on wma’s and catahoula who felt they were entitled to their spots.

No different than Atchafalaya basin
I think some big dogs are lining up to try to lease one big chunk.

quote:. Looks like the plaintiffs are awarded nearly $5mm in royalties as well, not to mention what’s held in suspense since 2006. Landmen finna eat running title in Lasalle and Rapides Ph. What a hairball mess that will be.

They may not literally “dynamite” the lock and dam, but I know one of the levee district members. If he gets his way, the structure will be dismantled. It would be illegal to use public funds to control water on private lands. Plus, the plaintiffs cite the structure as the cause for all their “damages”. The greedy “landowners” will have a big mud hole, just like it was before 1973.
