Cat Island fishing trip.

Fished out there yesterday had a blast. One flounder and 7 specks. Not much of a haul, but if we where in La. would of limited out. Caught over 30 that where over 12”. 15 specks over 15” Ms. limit is quite the limit. Beautiful water and surroundings. No reds was kinda disappointing.

Love cat island. Both of my personal best were there, 6.2 lber in February on the north side one year and a 5.7 in May on the east side in the surf. Love top water on the grass flats this time of year too. We have stuck lots of flounder there too, just a cool place.

Which side are y’all fishing? We’ve been out there a few times just to spend the day on the beach. Seems like most boats are on the West side in the smugglers cove area

My favorite speck trip ever was out there. Wade fishing. Got on an amazing top water bite right before dark. Little unnerving with a bunch of specs and reds on a stringer tied to my waist in almost pitch dark belly button deep water but it added to the adventure I guess.

Grew up fishing out there and love Cat, but it can be very hit or miss. Don't fish it as much these days, but pass it every time I go regardless and think about all those catches over the years.
Those 12s wouldn't be legal in LA this year either, btw.

That’s right. We fished the north side, and 3’ was money around the grass.

Yes. Only a few miles from La waters though.
