I've gone through 2 cheap 6' cast nets and they've been awful. There are the bottom shelf $25 cast nets at Walmart.

Im to the point when I'd spend my last genie in a lamp wish on the best 6' or 8' cast net money can buy.

If you had a blank check for a cast net, what would you get?

Really nice ones in Florida. Calusa, Juju, and Black Pearl.

That was my first thought but the ones I've bought just fall apart. Leader lines coming untied and crap like that.

I throw a cast net almost every day from April through late October. I mainly throw 9 ft 1/2" mesh with i think 1.2 lbs per foot but only if im throwing off of my boat. I throw a 7' 3/8" mesh at I think 1 lb per foot if I'm throwing around docks or rocks. And then a nice taped net for winter time when I need a lot of depth.

I've never had an issue with a Betts or Fitec when it comes to threadfin or gizzard shad, but I'm not casting fir big mullet. Those off brand Amazon nets suck.

I have two walmarks 6’ nets and unless you hang them up on a Buick they’re fine. Bet you’re throwing from the bank at C Point off the rocks?? Spending on a net for that area isn’t going to be cost effective. Might look for a 4’ that you can throw a far piece and pull faster.

Hah, yeah. I throw at c point by the boat launch and by the boat slips.

Its not that I'm getting hung up it's just the ones I use feel cheap.

Yeah I know. Excited for the upgrades but bummed I can't fish there.

It's so close to my house and so easy to pop in catch some shrimp or a few mullet and snag a wide variety or fish.

Are there any articles or plans available for the upcoming work?

^^^This is your answer right here. I have 2 of his nets and they are great. Give him a call and he will build you a net to your specs.

That's a hell of a cast net to throw.
