Anybody own a newer one of these?

Spec and layout-wise, I really like these.

98% of our usage is family riding a lake that can get pretty big from time to time during the summer...probably not toledo bend white cap big, but big enough we gotta be careful.

Does it handle chop well?

What about motor? Local dealer trying to sell one with a 140 Suzuki....but has another with no motor....should I opt for 150 Honda/Yam/Merc instead?

Tough for me to think there’s not better options out there for the price.

What do you mean by this?

Will it be rough or will it hold up?

The design of the v on the 21 ls will not lend to a smooth ride but it should be a dry ride.

It won't be as bad as a flat bottom but definitely won't ride as well as a deep v.

I'd keep shopping personally. I don't have experience but like others said I think you could find a better option for what you are looking to do. GEnerally Carolina skiff's are not made for chop or speed.

Not sure how fast you want to go? A 140/150 should cruise about 30 and top end low 40s is my guess. My buddy has a 150 on a center console and that's his numbers.

Had a 21 Carolina and it was a great family and friends do anything boat. Had a 140 suzuki that ran like a top and pushed it fine, cruised at 30mph no matter how many kids, dogs, pirouges we piled in it. It doesn’t ride as well as a deep-v but who wants to be out when it’s rough anyway.

Cruising at 30 would be fine and dandy. We've got a 19ft center console bay boat that does just fine for our needs. This seems to be a little bigger and not one of those typical flat bottom Carolina Skiffs that just seem like they would slap so hard.
