Can someone learn me on Lake Verret?

I am wondering what the closest launch / marina is from Baton Rouge. I have never fished it, but I have a cork fisherman who wants to try it out. I fish Chicot for this type of thing.
I have heard to fish the dead end bayous, hit the cypress trees in clean water, etc. I have heard Crackerhead piece is supposed to be fishy.
Logistically what is the best place to put in, we will be in a small jon boat. I think we want to stay on the north end if possible, but if they are having better luck in the south we would take it on advice.
Thank you kindly. Tight lines your way.

quote:The launch at Bayou Corne is the closest. After that Attakapas, the Church in Pierre Part, and then Adams are other launch points.

Be very careful crossing Verret in a small boat

Youve gone above and beyond. Thanks for the knowledge bro. Hopefully, I can regroup Monday with a pic of a mess.

Bayou corne is the closest to you, but a ways from the lake. If you go a few more miles down, you'll get to a bridge right before a big church. Turn left before the bridge and go down about 1/8 mile or so and that's gaudets launch. The old lady will come out and ask if you remembered to put the plug in
head away from the bridge and that puts you directly into the lake.
Or atakapas is on the lake too

If you are wanting to fish the North side of Verret
I would not put in at Attakapas Landing. Grew up on this lake, parents still have a camp on the Canal Rd going to Attakapas Landing its a small mean little body of water.
I have heard catfish are running in the cypress trees on the main lake.

I fish mostly the south end of Verret and the area around grassy lake. Catfish have been biting really good around the trees in Verret. Cricket or worm 2 ft under cork. Catch most my bream in canals off bayou cheramie
Eta. We launch at Adams into belle River

How long do you think the run is from Pierre Part to Ike / Talbot? 25 hp Johnboat?
It looks to be across the lake, but still on the North End. We would probably head there straight away if the wind cooperated.

Gaudets launch saves you 1/2 of the idle zone.
Bay Side is the launch after the bridge across from the Church.
Adams shitty arse launch if you want to fish the lower end. Magazille will take you to the lake and also holds fish when the water is right.
I recommend the north east canals or Bayou Corne as the lower end will be full of jet skis and pleasure boats looking like Tickfaw River this weekend.

It will keep you honest and test your boating skills at certain times that's for sure.

A few minutes further, but I prefer the Spillway side launching from Adam's Landing. Adam's landing has launches on both sides of the levee.

Do you have a GPS or map on the boat? If not the run thru the canals from bayou Corne isn't the easiest navigation
Posted on 5/26/16 at 3:59 pm to Prosecuted Collins
If you have a good App and trust your map reading ability you are fine
Here shows where Corne enters the lake and Crackerhead begins. You dont really have much Lake at all to deal with. Also, you will see a lot of Private/No trespassing signs all throughout the canals. I aint never seen those stop anybody in all my years fishing Verret

I launched at Attakapas Landing and crossed it in my kayak last summer. I'll stick to the Attakapas side from now on
