Anybody got reqs on ultralight hikers?
Altra seems to be all the rage for through hikers. Zero drop with a wide to box.

If you're able to go to a store that has quality hiking shoes, I'd recommend going with the most comfortable shoe. They all are a little different with their sizing.
I've used Oboz lately and I love them.

You have to go to a store and try some on, or at least find somewhere with great return policy, like REI.
All shoes fit differently. I read about how great Oboz are and bought a pair, and I can't wear them. The ankle cut-out is too high. I can wear Salomons, but they are narrow for me. I wore Hoka trail runners for a year or so, but after 6-8 miles over rocks they leave my feet really tired and beat up if I'm carrying a pack.
I stick with Keen and Vasque because they fit me, and like a few others have said, I only wear lows. Keen Targhee series has something for everyone, and the Vasque Talus AT is what I'm wearing a lot lately. I'm not packing any elk out from 14,000 feet, and I just don't need boots for a 15-30lb pack. I sure don't need boots for a day hike just carrying water.

I’ve got Oboz Bridger
I have two pairs of Oboz Firebrand shoes. I'd like to buy a couple more pairs in case they're discontinued soon. They're not cushy like a lot of people prefer, but they're tough and comfortable for me. They do need a little breaking in.

saw many glowing reviews on these so i got a pair...HATE THEM. they fit my foot poorly, extremely uncomfortable to walk in, and the soles are dangerously slippery. like, bust my arse on any rock slippery
just goes to show, everybody's feet are different.
i hike in a pair of salomon discovery GTX lightweight boots and they are perfect for me. i usually even wear them to work
