They make clothes today that you don't have to be cold.

I love it. No insects to deal with and as long as you are layered up / warm you'll sleep like an infant. I've been in the middle of combats zones out in cold weather and dreamed like MLK.

Put your socks and your base layers in bag with you and put on before you exit bag. You can drop a propane lantern from center of tent and crank it up when you wake up, it heats the tent in no time.

I'd just go to the titty bar and tell my buddies to bring me a couple ducks on their way back home.

That'd be one hell of a heavy pack.

Seriously though, a camper can't go places I can go on foot. Going past normal limits is all part of the fun IMO.

Put up tent, put stove in, run pipe up thru jack, build fire in stove, sleep like a baby.

30 deg ain't bad at all. You can get by with cheap stuff. Just layer up. A small tent is a must to block the wind when you're sleeping.

Here's what i do for temps in 30 deg range:

-Small tent (1 or 2-man)
-Sleeping bag
-Simple fleece sleeping bag liner over the sleeping LINK
-A regular bed sheet laid atop the liner

The sheet will add more warmth than you think.

Cold weather camping is the best! No bugs.
