I really enjoying camping but it never works out organizing trips with my friends. I have been on a few urec camping trips. Any other options besides going alone? I'm 25. Moderate camping experience

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you got some pussy friends.
Dont blame them though I camp at the Hilton if I can.
Unless im canoeing or yak camping I think camping sucks.

Thanks for the useless input. I suggested he move his thread to the outdoor board from the OT to get some serious responses. Why would you post in a camping groups thread if you hate camping?

Posters here normally arrange 2-3 camping trips to duck hunt Venice every year but other than that I'm not a fan of camping in South Louisiana

As mentioned, LA Hiking Club. Check them out at www.hikelouisiana.org. Mostly local hikes but several club camping + hiking trips each year. They meet monthly 1st Thursday at Bluebonnet Library.

There are also some meet up groups that do camping trips too. I can feel your pain, it takes a ton to get my friends out camping.

good luck. BR seems like a really tough area to find good camping areas. And as far is I'm concerned, cammping season is over until Fall for most of the south.

Try hammockforums.net. There is a board divided by location and a group from LA has a few group hangs every year. Even if you're not a hammock camper, they welcome anyone with an interest in camping and are some good ole baws. Lots of very experienced and knowledgable people.

Just go. It's a blast soloing. Or go on a crowded trail and meet people that are into it also.

I've done a couple of trial runs (hiking 5 miles at a state Park each day and only using the the bag a primitive site). I guess I'm just nervous doing my first 20 mile plus backpacking trip.

Its different when going solo for a longer trip. I always think I'll get bored without somebody to talk with. But it's really nice. Set my own schedule. Sleep by 6 sometimes

After a few trips you'll be ready for longer and longer trips.

Head to Georgia and hike the AT will give you some nice company also. Tons of hikers out there last week. Many cute college girls also.

I'm thinking that, given the heat, doing half the Wild Azalea trail and going back would be the best option. Chicot seems fun, but I'm worried about having to truck in all of that water, whereas I can fill the bag but use the lifestraw on the stream water on the way back doing the WAT.

This is true, and I will often to fly fishing trips solo, but I always try to have at least one other person for safety precautions. Of course, if you tell several people your plans and go solo, that can work as well. Don't know why I am telling you this lol

It's getting warm for multiple night camping in Louisiana. One night I can deal with now.

It wasn't. I filtered from the lake and bayou. Water tasted great actually. I use a Sawyer Squeeze.

I love Bogue Chitto. With the cutbacks, they are removing certain campsites though, from what I understand.
