So pardon me if I'm an idiot here but I was curious if something was normal. Sitting over standing beans tonight and watched a group of 6 bucks feeding within 20 yards or so of a group of 6 does.

I thought normally this time of year you wouldn't find them feeding that closely to each other.

Had a group of 2 spikes feeding together and a group of 4 does a couple hundred yards from them and then the big mass all together. It just seemed weird that on a 300 acre bean field they seemed to cluster like that.

Seems pretty normal to me. I hate that you got downvoted 4 times for just making an observation. This place has changed.

They willl group up a bit over food but they don’t chase this early. They mostly just eat and tolerate one another

Had quite a few deer out on Sunday morning that included multiple young bucks and multiple does at different ages. The older doe with babies would chase a young buck away if it got too close to her babies, but for the most part they were all getting along.

Another guy had a mature buck out with a group of young bucks and does. The mature buck was asserting his dominance by smacking the younger bucks with his hind legs every once in a while.

I hate that a few idiots abound but thats anywhere online. Just wish the keyboard cowboys would respond with why they don't like the post.

I'm a self taught hunter who had killed a few as a kid walking through the woods then quit to hunt ducks. I really took up deer hunting about 10 years ago. I've went from being stoked to kill a button with a crossbow to letting 3.5 year old P&Y deer walk at 15 yards and not even picking up my bow. I've learned a lot and can really help with some questions but I'm not afraid to ask when I don't know then answer. It seemed odd so I asked more experienced hunters.

If that isn't the point of message boards like this than I don't know what is. Thanks for the guys who responded with real information.

If you're on the primary food source for the area, you'll see everybody. They won't bed together but they will eat the highest quality food together.

Yeah yesterday was a good reminder on just how little trail cameras catch. At one point I was able to pick out at least 19 deer in the field at once. If there were no reappearances I counted 32 deer, probably more like 25 total based on where they entered and exited. The camera didn't take a single pic. I'm actually having to re-evaluate our doe strategy. I had been assuming the pics I was getting were the same 2 groups, fairly sure we have roughly double what I thought.
