Actually your first 3 or 4 posts in this thread say the opposite, you were asking about mechanicals.. In fact you were relaying a story that you either read or saw on tv about mechanicals opening up before impact.. But, my memory and eyesight ain't what it used to be...

So I went with the slick tricks and needless to say they did not shoot like field tips. They shot probably a foot to the right.

I put that on here this morning then this page went ballistic with people talking about cutting diameter of broadheads and all of that so I can understand if you missed it.

Alright alright back to legit try to make Jrs bow shoot worth a damn stuff.

Is your bow tuned well and are your arrows stiff enough? There are charts available on the Internet to check if your arrows are appropriate for your draw length and speed.

ok.... i can't speak for anyone but myself, but here is myself speakin'..

I've shot Spitfires since the original ones. I don't mind saying that the ability to shoot mechs during hunting season and field points during summer and 3D tournaments was a BIG benefit and advantage.

I have shot Spitfires with an Oneida Eagle, Oneida Golden Eagle, High Country Summit, High Country Excalibur, and Switchback.. All of these bows have shot the Spitfires exactly the same as field tips..
I've seen other brands of mechs shoot the exact same as well, but, they weren't mine.. So, I'll stick to my original statement about my "stuff"..

The easiest way to see if its a spine issue is to turn the poundage of your bow down a little bit and see if the POI of your broadheads moves toward the field tips

You may need to go 1 spine stiffer than the charts say with an alpha burner. Many of the charts don't take into account faster bows (ibo over 325) IIRC the alpha burner has an IBO of 340

Man did I miss the fun today! LOL

Some things I forgot to mention in my post yesterday.

The 120 10-pt was a pretty steep shot at that close range. From 28 ft my impact was a bit high, plus he was slightly quartering to, but still got the top of this side lung on him and the lower part of the opposite side lung. Caught an offside rib dead center and broke it, but had NO opposite side penetration. Deer went 50 yds and dropped like a stone.

What I did NOT mention was that there was not one single drop of blood on the ground. The shaft stayed in the buck and plugged the high impact hole. I tracked him by tracking his hoof marks as he ran. traced them to within 10 yds of him, where he had jumped a blowdown and skidded to a stop, deader than hell. Not one drop of blood on the ground whatsoever.

While some might look at this as a failure of the rage I look at it as one more reason to use one. Deer was dead to rights withing 50 yds from MASSIVE internal damage. Lungs cut to pieces. I don't think nearly as much damage would have been done by my old Rocky mtn 100 grain 3 blades in the same situation.

For the record I'm shooting a Hoyt Maxxis 35 at 65 lbs, 28 draw with 28 1/2 " Easton Axis 400's shooting 273 fps.

Now, continue the pissing contest.

Some people see this and give up on the spot. Good job on trusting yourself and finding it.

Not having an exit hole with a bow very often ends up in a lost deer.

Thanks

Been at this too long to give up on a deer I knew was dead.

Of course it helped that while I THOUGHT I heard him go down hard, I got a txt from my best friend about 10 minutes later saying he heard/saw him coming his way just before he hit the ground and never heard him move again! I still catch hell for that one. Heard him coming straight at him like a freight train and then all of a sudden "CRASH" and silence.

When I walked up 15 mins later I look over and see my bud climbing down about 50 yds away. For some strange reason he gives me this number..

I haven't a clue why.......

If the arrows are made by Easton they will have the actual spine marked on the arrow, .400,.340, or .300

I looked and my arrows are Easton ST Epics. They also say 400 and 8.6. If that helps.
