Looking for recs on boat lights for running in lanes for flooded timber hunting, Flood versus spot. Lightbar or not. Rather have them mounted on front of boat as I’m gonna need my hands

I've had a cheap nilight off of Amazon on my boat since 2018 or 19. Looks rough but still works well. I think it's half flood half spot. Lights up the woods like it's daylight.

I like my seelite 10” single row, combo beam.

It lights up everything perfectly, and it’s low profile.

Just remember to turn it off when you’re around other boats.

I made a custom backet for my mud boat and I have a 4 row 30inch and then I have some 6inch single row floods pointing on each a side so I have a full 180 of light. I have some regular Amazon specials and I have gotten 3 season out of them and I’m going on season 4 with the same set up.

No need for the rigid or Baja designs. Unless u one of them baws!

Second the nilight. Have had one on my Jon boat, one on my ATV, and just bought one for a removable bracket I made for my bay boat. I’ve had really good success with their lights and they’re affordable.

I figured even if I had to replace them every year or two I'd still come out ahead over 5-10 years. 5 years later they're still going strong. Hardware/mounting bracket is the weak link.

Eta: I paid $19 in 2018. They're still only $22.

Light bar imo is best but will get chewed up and need replacing fast put it on bow below the gunnel right above the water to no get any glare at all. Secondary mount it on the gunnel on the bow so hopefully you only get a little glare. IMO a spot light is also a must but for different reasons and you don’t run with it really.

Don’t be an a-hole and leave your lights on when in boat traffic if you leave flood on ima blast you with spot light

I have 2 on the front and 2 on the back for setting decoys and they work like a charm and have held up well. I don't use them much while running because I can see better with less light but that is on open water, not flooded timber or a marsh. No light that would fit on the front of a 20 foot jon boat helps on open water where the light just disappears in the distance because there is nothing there to reflect off of.

If you go with a light bar you can't go wrong with Southern Lite Led or Seelite Lights.

If using a headlight my go to is Vapor Trail Outdoors either the Frog Light or the Four-Point.

Light bars should be illegal. Too much light to spoil the night. Get a small headlight.

They are actually a detriment on open water. In timber or a marsh or even a river they can be beneficial but on open water most people can see better with no light than a bright assed light simply disappearing in the distance. I don't even like the transom light on open water....I can see almost everything in the darkest of nights with no light, add any light at all of any color and everything disappears except things reflecting the light. .

I can. Running in the dark is best for me. I never ran in timber. Used to run anywhere at night from the Atchafalaya River to Biloxi. All of the Bayous , lakes and bays of Terrebonne and Lafourche Parish, and the GOM I knew like my bedroom.

Only with a small light, map, compass and a watch with a second hand on the smaller vessels.

Don’t do a lot of night running anymore. Too many people, too many lights, too much erosion and loss of our beautiful marsh. I get sad looking at that stuff. It’s all gone.
