‘16 Ram 1500 4x4 and it’s getting squishy and I want my ride back. Bilstein 4600s or 5100s best for bringing me back to near factory?

I put Fox 2.0 IFP shocks all around my 2017 Ram in March 2025. Rides better than I can remember.

Bilstein B8 5100 for leveling and off-roading, Bilstein 4600 for factory-style replacements, or Rough Country N3 for budget-conscious upgrades.

5100s are going to ride stiffer than stock.

If you are looking for a "more comfortable" ride, the fox 2.0s are probably what you are after.

Suspension shop on you tube did a really good comparison of these, among other shocks/coilovers.

Pretty sure I’m gonna go with the 4600s but maybe some KYBs. Probably not keeping it but a year or 2 if Ram gives me back a straight up Hemi without the E-torque bs so I’m not gonna get stupid with the money

Yea I wish I had I known that, my truck rides stiff as hell now with the 5100s. Would not get again.

What notch are they set? “Zero” (lowest notch) shouldn’t be much different ride-wise, if they’re in a higher notch for lift and preload the coil the ride will stiffen. Mine ride good though, I’m on my second set of 5100’s and had to move the snap rings to the second notch since my coils are tired.

I had 5100's all around on my last F150 and liked them. After towing my boat for the first time this weekend with the new truck, I'm thinking about going back with them. I did read some good things about the eibachs and how they have a softer ride than the bilsteins.

I've had 5100s on my last three trucks and yes, they definitely ride stiffer than stock. Good if you tow quite a bit though, which I do. I recently got a new F150 and put the 6112's on the front and the 5100s on the rear and the truck rides great. Probably twice the price of 5100s all around, but well worth it. Major upgrade over 5100s on the front and honestly I didn't realize just how stiff the 5100s were until I got the 6112s.

Bilsteins have never given me a like factory ride.

Having said that, they are all I run.

Usually external reservoir on the rears and on the fronts too if offered.

But the valving is always...firmer than stock.
