Here is a pic of my 153" 8 point I killed in Mississippi. 23" inside and 29" main beams. He makes my 148" 10pt look small.
Wish my buck would've had tine length like that.

You should see that deer in person, it is a frickin beast.

It looks like it should be a prehistoric model. Like if it were to scale, it should be 2-3 times what a normal deer should be... Ridiculous.

No, some count wrong. It bothers me bad. It's an embarrassment to the hunting community. Makes us look dumb. What does "Jim killed a 17 point" tell you? Not one damn thing. "Jim killed a 9 point with a bunch of stickers" tells you a lot. If clip for magazine is a 6, courting everything you can hang a ring on is a 10.
If it's an inch or longer I count it as a point, same as how B&C considers it. I hate it when someone tells me their deer was 18 inches wide and when I see it it's 15 because they measured the outside spread.
This deer may have more than 8 points but they measured him using only his main frame to show how big he actually is.
I disagree with your "Jim" story. If someone tells me they killed a 170 inch 9 point, I think of this deer. If they tell me a 170 inch 17 point it makes more sense. Like someone else said, score means more to me than number of points.

If i kill a deer and it has 17 pointy things on its head im going to call it a 17 point.

How? It's much more difficult for a 9 point to score that high, almost unheard of. Not so much for the 17 point.

This doesn't make any sense. Are you putting them in the same category as a sasquatch?

quote:How could you possibly know? The "17 point" tells you nothing of deductions. If Downshift kills a forky with 13 stickers, his dumbass is going to proclaim a 17 point.

quote:Yes. I have never seen anything more than a 13 point, and even then, some of the points may not have been points at all. Not even in pictures.

Because there are more 13+ point deer scoring 170 or higher. Not many 9 points scoring 170.

It's not supposed to. That's why they are scored as Non typical.

Like I said, if they are over 1 inch, he has every right to.

There's a pic of a 152 inch 7 point on Simmons website that was killed in Lake Providence. It would've been an 8, but had a tine broken off. I saw its rack a day or two after he shot it, it is absolutely massive.

I love it, a 17 point forky.
That is not a pic of a 13 point or better by the way. I'm not saying it does not have more than 13 scorable points. That's totally different.

What do you call it?

OK

Totally different!!!
So if you killed the deer in my pic, you'd say you killed an 8 point with some stickers?
