Guys, if you want a trip there are plenty guides here that could use the business. I am sure many will discount there rates during this calamity/over reaction. Google Calcasieu Lake fishing guides and book a trip.

I've chartered several trips with Eric Clark. He is a good man and will work hard to show everyone a good time.

I had a buddy in town from Montana and we got caught in a typical Louisiana summer storm. We waited out the storm and went well over our morning time once the weather cleared up so he could show our fly fishing buddy how fun it is to catch a nice red.

Here is his facebook page.

I do not know Eric Clark socially - just through the trips I've had with him. I cannot recommend him enough - he is good people.

I have fished for Eric and he has always been fair with me. Plenty of guides looking to make their bills now and very little traffic on the water. Hiring a guide right now is a great opportunity to learn the lake.

You’re a good dude Kemo. Still trying to workout the logistics of making a trip with you this week and if we can’t, we’ll do it next week. I’m working from home for the most part, just need to get to that side of the state.

Personally, Kemosabe and another fellow by the name of Billy are the only 2 guides I’d take out of Big Lake because I’m comfortable with them and they’ll work their asses off to put you on fish. There are other great guides as well but I’ve seen the fish Kemo and Billy put in the boat.

Good luck to everyone on the OB and keeping y’all in my prayers.

Yes, the response to close businesses putting people out of work and into bankruptcy is an over reaction. This cure is worse than the cause, there were zero quarantines in 2009 and the swine flu killed thousands.

I’ll also add that the guides on Big Lake will work much harder to put fish in your boat and are awesome people. Nice respectful folks.

There are a few awesome guides out of Venice and Grand Isle too but the SWLA skippers out work the SELA ones everyday of the week and are a more friendlier bunch. SWLA guides aren’t clock watchers like the majority of SELA ones.

I’m not knocking SELA skippers. There are some good ones in the bunch. I just like the way the SWLA guides operate. We’ve had a camp in Grand Isle for all 36 years of my life and my grandfather and dad had one 30 years before that so Im biased to SELA but if I want a guided trip, I’m going SWLA.

Was hoping to go Thursday. It looks like that may get shite on now. Wind is up to 12-15. Hoping it drops down as it gets closer to time.

You fishing this week? I may be able to give you a report for once. Going to hit the usual spots I think.
