Take a look around and see if you can find a used CZ 82. It is an all metal pistol, around 24 oz, so the weight helps hold down the recoil a bit. It is a little bigger grip than the small guns but not as big as the larger pistols. The caliber is a Russian round, 9 x 18, but is readily available. That is what I have for my wife and daughter to shoot and they like it, have no trouble with the recoil, can easily work the slide. And usually you can find them for about $250-275.

LINK Bayoushooter has a good marketplace. I had to dig a little for this one. I think he's asking $220 for it

What do you mean?
There is no gray area. Pistols are SA only, DA only, or DA/SA. There is no in between.
A Glock is a SA only with a heavier trigger if that is what your are referring to. I haven't looked at the Springfield to know if it is like the Glock.
