Completely writing off anything with an external safety is pretty wrong IMO.
1911's come to mind as something a well practiced person could employ very effectively in combat with the external safety.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I just think dawg has an interesting point of view. And, he has considerable experience from what I gather. It's always good to be exposed to different ideas.

He does. I have zero live combat experience and don't claim to know what works and what doesn't.
I just have a hard time believing that a gun with an external safety is automatically wrong.

quote:Why the laughing emoticon? In the OP, he specifically mentioned the word "safety". To point out that a pistol doesn't have an external safety at all, that's relevant.
Per the review, the one thing to be aware/careful of, is that it has no external safety- if a bullet is chambered and you pull the trigger, it will shoot.
Same is true with Glock, Springfield, S&W, Kahr, any revovler, etc etc. Sure a couple models have external safeties, but the majority dont.
This isn't relevant to the OP anymore since he's made his choice, but control placement is an issue to consider also. If you're deciding between a Sig P226 and a CZ 75, you're looking at a couple of nice pistols... but if you are also familiar with /own a 1911 (or plan to someday), the CZ might be a better buy. Why? The CZ layout is more similar.
I love a good older S&W revolver btw. Like someone else said, those are keepers.

I have a .357 magnum that holds 5. I have it loaded and two speed loaders on my belt. If you need more than 15 rounds of .357 mag then I suggest praying.
