I just purchased my S&W M&P Shield 9mm... I'm looking for recommendations on a good concealed carry class in or near BR... I would appreciate personal experience recommendations, not some "a buddy of mine" endorsements... I trust you guys a lot more than the people I personally know, so what saith the OB??

I'll hang up and listen

I used Lashootrite. Go to them or they'll come to your group of at least 4 pretty much anywhere in Baton Rouge area.

Corndog:

My classes are booked pretty far in advance. But if you'll call me (I'm not comfortable posting too much on an open forum) I will share some info/recommendations on other classes in the BR area.

LP sheriffs has the best class around, plus you do the shooting part the same day, same place as the class.

BRPD hands down the best. Gordon Hutchinson is the worst.

I agree that Hutchinson is awful. He is a certificate mill. Law enforcement classes are way better. Hutchinson claims he was with the sheriff's office. He was a reserve and never a POST instructor. He's a want to be.

Most of the Law enforcement guys have or have trained people that have killed.

I've heard excellent things about Dawg's class. I can also say that he's a man of great integrity. If you can take his class, I highly recommend it.

Get in touch with Bapple here at tiger droppings and take his class...at least he is Pro 2A and does not oppose constitutional carry legislation...maybe add "paging Bapple" into your thread title

I've taken his classes twice out of convenience more than anything. I'm sure he has more to offer than what he puts out in his class but I think he gives the bare necessities and not much else.

Troy Viccellio with xring protection Training. He also owns Baker Range. I was in his class last Saturday. Very good class. I highly recommend his CC class.

I took hutchinsons class
he's a nice guy and means well but his class is terrible and a complete waste of time
I was over at precision the other day and got to see the scenario simulator they have installed there...it's really impressive. You stand in front of the screen with a special glock wired to the system and have to react/not react to the scenario on the screen. It's much more of what these classes should be teaching

in any event it's worth checking out

Ill say it again

LP class is held at their shooting ground and is taught by LP sheriffs that know there shite

Half day in class at their shooting range, then go shoot out back

All in one at same site in one day.

No sitting in somebodies dam living room and shooting the next week.

Precision sucks big time....

I did one of those sims at the stockyards in Fort Worth. They're pretty fun and throw some curves at you.
