I would like to get one early this year and have it mastered before the season. Tired of seeing speckle bellies geese and having nothing to show em the love.

I have the Haydell's XLS 83....it has been a good call and is fairly easy to blow...get one now along with some audio instruction and you will have no trouble blowing it after a day or two of practice..
it is not a world class call, but it is effective and has good volume for hunting in the wide open marsh to overcome the wind...at less than $20, the price is right, too!....

Check out Riceland Custom Calls. They're very easy to blow. I think you can get a poly for around $60.

There are cheaper "beginner" calls but you could spend the money and get a Riceland and be done with it. It will be as easy as any other speck call and once you master it you won't have to change and master a different call. 60-65 bucks like yeti said

redbone are good calls too

Yeah? it's that big of a difference? I just looked at the haydels and it looks like my dr-85 duck call and has to be easy to figure out.

i have never blown a good haydels goose call.

Easiest to learn on is haydels compensator. Riceland easy to blow but cane tricky to break. Chien caille best call for the money but takes a lot of air. Im usially huffin after workin em for a few minutes. Lots of good economical calls. Quack head makes one thats pretty easy also. No reason to spend more than about 40$ for a speck call

If u get the clear haydels they are tricky to find right back pressure. Tend to be high pitched. We call my dad ole squeaky with his he refuses to change

Any of those dudes with a highend goose call don't leave geese much chance

Never said riceland didnt make a good call, i have one. The chien caille is still the one hangin on my lanyard. I just wouldnt spend a buncha $ on a call til u actually learn how to get the tome right which to me is the hardest part.

It can be hard. I wasn't accusing you just saying that more expensive calls cost more for a reason. The Riceland redbone and rnt all sound really good and cost more that a hundred bucks. Biggest thing with the Riceland is hand placement.

For what it's worth, I blow a riceland poly call. It's probably the loudest speck call that I have ever heard. In my opinion, you won't find a better call for $60.
Hand placement is the key to blowing that riceland call. There are some instructional videos on youtube that will show you pretty much everything u need to know...
