My family recently purchased a camp between Lake Ponchartrain and Lake Catherine. I’d like to kayak fish and explore that area, but don’t know any good spots. Anyone have any recommendations?

Man it's weird to me to think of kayak "spots" since I purchased a boat. The reality is, you're limited to where you launch + 2 miles, give or take.

So what you do with that is just launch anywhere you can where you feel comfortable and aren't bothered by boat traffic.

A hot tip is there are a TON of abandoned properties along Chef that you can combat launch from. Just paddle around, maybe troll a lure while you do.

Also, from South Shore Bait and Marina, you can launch and head to the right down that canal. Nobody fishes there and you can find reds and bass, sometimes trout.

Bayou Sauvage area has 2 small launches, 1 on Hwy 11 near I-10 and one Hwy 90 before you get to Venetian Isles. Have fished the ponds, marsh and edges of the lake from kayak and gheenoe. Caught some bass and reds.

Might sound obvious but geoghegan canal near the landing. Have caught some trout in winter and plenty of bass during the spring time there and it's not to far from the launch.
