Why not 500?

200 per box, and I already have over 1,000 FMJ. If I do get more it will be just FMJ. The green tip will go in special magazines reserved for their specialty.

Looking a bit beyond pure self defense now. Like target shooting, yeah target shooting.

I've shot Hornady V max 223 and the "Z max Zombie" version which is the same thing. Just comes in a box with Zombies on it for fun. As far as I know they're the same. They fragment incredibly well.

This is the answer. There are plenty of non fmj rounds that are far superior to the fmj but unless you reload youre SOL. The reason the military uses FMJ isnt because its the best its because they have to by i think its the Geneva convention. Military isnt supposed to use any fragmenting type bullet so that soldiers can hopefully be stitched up and survive a wound. Its also why they cant use star shaped bayonets.

If your looking for most damage inflicted on soft targets, thats one of your best bets the v)z) max. or try to find some mk318 77 otm i think it is. that some good shite

223 varmint loads are what I use for deer.

They don't run.

Anything within 10 inches is shredded.

you better hope they fall right there, otherwise you may never find them.

I mean a 5.56 will kill the shite of of someone if that’s what you’re asking

If you want to be cool and use a military style gun for self defense honestly I think the route to go is civilian semi auto replicas of what would be known as an SMG and preferably shoots 9mm or even .45s. Think an AUG or P90 or MP5, or my personal favorite the Thompson. Yes I know some of those mentioned shoot supersonic rounds, but if we’re purely talking self defense of your home one of these type guns in close quarters is going to be way easier to maneuver with how short they are but much better control than a pistol. And yes all of these guns can be found and bought. I know a single store that sells all the ones I mentioned but of course they are all sold smooth out now.

Almost the only thing I ever shoot in my AR, are 55 grain American Eagle JHP, they shoot really well, consistently accurate in my rifle. I have only shot coyotes and groundhogs with it, but I'm sure it will do a number on larger stuff. I have a few magazines loaded up with M855s, but I try to save those.
