I spotted one in the backyard last week. Was happy to see him.

That looks just like muh baw Eddie. He was living in some old bricks I had stacked up by my shop and my wife wanted him gone. (I know) So, I built a little brick pyramid behind my shop for him. He loved it. I came home one day, and he had a moccasin half way down his throat out in the pasture. I took a pick and sent it to my wife. She agreed that he could stay.

He finally moved on or got killed, because I haven't seen him in a couple of years. He got HUGE. A couple of weeks ago, I saw 2 speckled king snakes behind my shop. I'm hoping they are the spawn of old Eddie. I rebuilt that habitat for them.

Always had a king in my yard, but haven't seen one in a couple of years. The black racers seen to have taken over.

My wife has increased my kids' vocabulary noticeably over that period of time.

I killed a speckled king snake many years ago out of sheer ignorance.

Have felt bad about it ever since.
