Who in the Baton Rouge area can be trusted to cut and tread the barrel on a 308?

What’s the diameter of the barrel that you want cut?

It’s a heavy barrel Remington 700, 5R milspec.
I think it is .820.

wow I got the same gun and thinking about doing the same thing. Can't wait for an answer but I am in Natchez and wonder if anyone has a recommendation closer to Natchez

Haven’t used them, but Hebert’s will cut and thread your barrel for you. Asked around a little about them and didn’t hear anything negative from the few that I talked to.

What boot said. Buhler is local and will do a great job. I’ve had 3-4 rifles cut down by them and several other things done as well.
