Love my Lews tournament Mb. These fit my hands better than the Abu. That was the deciding factor between the two for me.

Price is good. Drag is good. Casts great. And comfortable

I do love a currado but I have switched all my reels to 13 now... I think they are the best for saltwater

Daiwa tatula tt100 is another good one. Can find on ebay and sportsmans outfitters for 99-120.

I have a 13 concept A and I like it alot. It is on the heavy side though.

The last curado I liked was the E7. Havent tried the new ones. The Tranx 200 looks really interesting - "Waterproof Drag" might have me sold

who is making the best baitcasters in that price range (~$150) these days?

For $150 I'd go with Fishing 13 Concept A or the newly discounted Shimano Citica

Lew's upgraded this reel to 7.5:1 gear ratio and upped it to 20 lbs drag last year. Casts a mile. Has become my favorite reel I own.

Seems overall that there’s a lot of good options and it may be personal preference.

I think that's a fair statement. Personally I subscribe to the thinking that it's best to pick a brand and learn how they do things. I can pick up just about any shimano reel and know I have a good idea of how it works and what it's quirks are. I can take mine apart in my sleep. They all use different braking systems and there is a learning curve on dialing in any of them, but it will translate across models.

Are there variations of this? Having trouble finding that exact number, and I don't know their casting line as well as spinning.

Does the Lew's and 13's have clicks on the Spool Tension Knob? My Garcia's do, but not my Curados. I really like that feature.

Lew’s does. Don’t remember if the 13’s do.

Daiwa has a shite ton of models and seems to update them way more frequently, I can't keep up. This is the current tatula 100, and I think it's the only "tatula 100" that's been released anytime recently. The number after refers to spool capacity usually, but they generally make the reel more compact as that number goes down as well. They market the tatula 200 as a heavier, more powerful reel.

edit: as soon as I hit submit saw they also have a 60th aniversary edition tatula 100, but it looks to be the same reel with just cosmetic changes. The model name for the tatula 100 is TTU100 so he may be referring to that.
