I think I'm going to call all the stores in Shreveport tomorrow and try to find a Rock Island or Citadel compact or midsize. I've read enough reviews to know that I'm going to have to take it directly to a gunsmith and have the feed ramp polished and possibly changing sights. And definitely ordering some new grips.
Normally I'd post
, but they're made in the Philippines...

I'll have one just to put into my collection one day, for $400 it's a no brainer to me. Those mods you want to do are easy to do if you want to take on a little project one weekend

Gary,
Although I don't have an RIA, I do have a Citadel Concealed Carry (compact size). Mine has been very reliable. I got the Citadel because it had Novak type sights (and other upgrades) that were not available at the time on the RIA. You may not need to polish the feed ramp. Shoot it some first.
I'd also recommned you consider the Amerian Classic Commander if you settle on a mid-size gun. The AC's blued finish is MUCH nicer than the Citadel/RIA's Parkerized finish. On my guns, the AC also has a nicer trigger than the Citadel. Sights are satiasfactory on both guns, but I prefer the AC as it has 3 dot sights while the Citadel sights have no markings. AC makes a compact size model, the Amigo, but supplies have been VERY limited.

That is nice. I'm a fan of plain guns also.

don't know how well the color would hold up going in and out of a holster though?
