I have a couple black spots where grass is not growing very well at all. Where the grass is struggling, it does look like there are little worm mounds everywhere in the dirt. Not sure if that means anything. I spread out a good bit of fertilizer to help it but no luck. Any help?

Any silky webs that you can see in the early morning dew?

I'll check tomorrow morning; I haven't been in the backyard in the AM in a long time

Do that, and you can also mix some Dawn soap and water in a bucket...pour that onto the edges of the struggling patches and give it 10 minutes and check for worms. That should bring them up out of the thatch layer. I'll be in your neighborhood Monday/Tuesday. Text me if you think you need some insecticide and I'll drop some off.

If it didn't grow well with all of the rain this year, it is probably not gonna ever do well...I have centipede and it just sucks.

Dawn won't do any damage to the growing grass?

I'll try it tomorrow morning and see what happens. I'll shoot you a text if I need you to swing by

Doesn't need to be mixed strong, just a few drops per gallon.

I had something similar in my front yard and it was called brown patch. Brown patch is a fungus and I had to use an antifungal. It says you have to use is several times throughout the year to get rid of it. Also some causes of brown patch are cutting the grass to low, moisture so in my case all this rain actually made it worse. Also aerating the yard helps.

Good luck

No silky webs that I could see but I did notice only is the area where it was brown, hundreds of nat like bugs in the grass. They were everywhere, just in the area that was not growing. Moving over to where the grass is doing ok and there are none

sod webworms...easy to treat, but they will destroy your turf quickly if you ignore them. if you have them, you will eventually see a lot of little moths flying when you walk through the (dead) grass.

These?

I had the same thing, so I looked em up. Leafhoppers. Supposed to be harmless, but there are thousands of them.

I had a few moths and webworms, but I think the rain drowned them all. I saw one moth today and the grass isn't struggling like it was last year.

Bug B Gone. I had them last year and I sprayed this stuff and it worked. I fertilized afterwards and it all came back. They kill your grass real quick too.
Only time you can see them is first thing in the morning. Go look right at the edge of dead grass and good grass and you'll see them if they're there.
