Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack said the road closure would extend from La. 69 and La. 70 southwest to Lee Drive in Pierre Part.

better get that shite fixed before football season!
LA 70 is the main route to BR for the lower atchafayla(sp?) folks.

ETA: a lot more commuters thru Bayou Pigon on LA75

The only way around would be to take 996 that goes by the racetrack and then Hwy 69 back to Hwy 70. but I'm not sure that will detour the affected area. If not it will be a long ride to Pierre Part.

Yea it appears I'd have to go through Morgan City or some shite. frick that

How is anybody gonna fix a leaking salt dome? It ain't gonna happen. If it continues leaking LPG that will leave a void and once the pressure allows the water will enter and the level on the surface will drop. Hell trees are already sunk.

Unsaturated water in a salt Dome is a very very bad thing.

I guess we'll see what happens. Hopefully it doesn't leech the nearby Wells as well.

The closure of hwy 70 will be a major head ache for people living in the Pierre Part\ Bayou Corne area, I really feel for them. I drove down hwy 70 yesterday near the affected area and it looked like a normal Saturday with the exception of emergency response trailers at the landing. I have a feeling this whole situation will not end well

From the article hwy 70 will only be closed while the pipeline is being depressured. Unless complications arise.

Yes, and then added that trial lawyers are our only defense against the big, e-vil, oil and gas companies.

That's a hell of a bend.

SMH..yes big oil has fricked up in the past. but the oil companies also try and protect the land they use as best they can. no one wants an ecological screw up associated with their brand.

Not sure if this is the thread I need to post this in or if anyone is even paying attention to this anymore, but they have started a blog to keep up with what is going on

LINK

Figured some of you with interests in the area might find it useful.

My Mother-in-Law was in attendance at the meeting last night. She is generally pretty calm about things but sounded nervous about the whole situation.
