Anyone use the marine-style bean bags for boat seating?

We'll be upgrading our boat this season, and as I try to look around and figure out what the heck to get, I keep landing on a center console bay type boat. For reference, we have a fish and ski (17ft) now that has been fine, but we'd like something a little bigger. Haven't seen a center console with what i'd consider good comfortable seating for cruising for my lady and a couple of kids....Anybody got any use out of those bean bags? Got any other suggestions?

Last summer I bought the cheapest bean bag I could get from wal mart for my 4yr old for running to and back from the MS barrier islands. Worked perfectly. He fell asleep and had the best seat every time.

I have a nautic star 210 coastal. I think the new model is 211 angler. But it is perfect for what you are talking about. Very comfortable seating.

Bean bags are awesome for the boat. The only issue I can think of is storage out of the way when fishing if you don't have a T top or something to set them on when not running.

Of course from personal experience you have to remember to take them off the T top BEFORE running......

Even if you don’t have much space, ocean tamer makes different sizes. The small ones would probably be more than enough for women and kids. I have a 22’ bay boat and I’m considering the same. I have a little one and I think laying on a bean bag in the floor of the boat is probably the safest and most comfortable spot for him.

Loos like the are now the 211 & 231 Hybrid, I was thinking the Coastal series but looks like they’ve renamed them. Seems to be the best compromise for bay and cruising.

haha-awesome.

We are pretty much one or the other each day-On fishing days, we wouldn't have any runs longer than maybe 10-15 minutes, so the bags would prob stay home.

I really, really like those nauticstar's...

Just on quick look, I'll have to go with the previous iteration for price point purposes....So I'm assuming look for a 210 angler? Anyone off the top of their head know the first year of that model?

Reminds me of when my oldest son was young, I'd take him out on my CC and I'd bungee him to the seat.

TLDR: search for both Coastal and Angler. They are the same boat.

I just bought a 211 Angler about 6 months ago, after looking for almost 2 years. Well, started looking for "a boat" about 2 years ago, then fell in love with the Coastal/Angler about a year and a half ago. My needs were very similar to yours with the young kids and wife that likes to cruise the river.

Anyway, I talked to a nauticstar rep who said the angler and the coastal are identical boats. They created the different names b/c in florida (may be other places too, but this is what he said) there are boat dealers that sell pleasure boats and dealers that sell fishing boats. They wanted to sell it in both, but the dealers didn't want to compete against each other for the same boat, so they created two different names. To make them different, the Angler came with the swim ladder and one or two other options (the table maybe?) but had a higher starting price. He said you could add those options to the Coastal and the price was identical.

Look at the tidewater LXF series line of boats. Mix between a bay boat and cruiser. I think there's a dealer in Hammond and Henderson

We love our 210 coastal. Perfect compromise boat since we pleasure cruise more than fish. I just kept checking Craigslist from Houston to Florida and found a great deal on one in Houston.
