Nice bump. Thanks for the update. Sounds like Penny is awesome. Sorry to hear about Roux. Thats rough. Had the same thing happen to one of my parents’ vizslas in the spring of 2016, and we had to put him down.
We actually just got a new vizsla puppy this past December because we needed a buddy for our 6 year ol vizsla. Hes a rescue that we think was 6-8 months old when we got him, so hes 9-12 months now. Some guy was breeding them and just neglecting them and leaving them to roam around and fend for themselves. Good lord he is kicking our butts. We knew he would be more difficult than a normal puppy since he basically was a wild animal before we got him. But damn hes terrible. Chews the hell out of everything, including baseboards, couches, other furniture, me, my wife, etc... He also jumps our fence at will and takes off into the neighborhood, but he has recently gotten better about that. I keep telling myself we will break through with him at some point, but damn its rough going right now. He and my 6 year old vizsla are best buddies, which is awesome for everyone involved.

I’ll be torn between getting a Vizsla or Ridgeback when I’m ready for another dog.

A friend of mine owns 2 and hey are great dogs. She stays at home though, so they get lots of attention, and I'm sure this is a factor in their behavior. Also, they are outside, athletic, energetic people so that contributes to the dogs attitudes as well. I see lots of pics of both dogs laying on the couch, however, so I think they relax a good bit too.
NVM. Just saw the original date. Duh. Shes beautiful.
