I run 15-40 rotella in every air cooled machine that I own
Best policy is to run what is specified though.

I’m working on a 350 big bear and have read the same thing. For all practical purposes in the south it shouldn’t matter. That first number is the winter weight, and we never see temps low enough to really bring it into play. I have read that if you are gonna go experimenting don’t use oils that advertise additional friction modifiers, as that can mess with the clutches.

I've read where folks run Rotella 15w40 in these four wheelers. What says you and the OB?
My 1990 has been running Super Tech 30HD for 25 years and change the filter every decade or so

I'd put it $1600-$1800.
The trick here is to find out what year Honda made a change. It was either 92 or 94. The pre changes makes cross referencing parts a bit harder and maybe a bit more.
The rear ends are usually the only weak link. Pull the trigger on it.
I've tried to buy a blue one with the gray seat several times. That's my favorite.

For you Fourtrax 300 owners the neutral safety switch bypass is a great $10 mod. You can start the ATV in any gear. No more putting it in neutral or rocking it back and forth to get it in neutral so you can start it.
Buy a $8 dirt bike kill switch from amazon.
Amazon Kill Switch
Take the seat off and between the gas tank and air filter housing there is a plug with a white green & blue wire. Connect the green wire on the kill switch to the green wire in the center of the three wires on the Fourtrax and the black wire to a bolt for ground.
You can see the blue wire crimp connector on the green wire in the center and the black wire under the bolt at top by the gas tank. After the kill switch is connected press the kill switch button and the neutral light should come on.
You can skip the kill switch and connect the center green wire to ground but the neutral light will always be on. The kill switch only bypasses the neutral safety switch when holding the button down and the neutral light functions normally when the button isn't being pressed.

I'm looking for a cheap 500+ 4wheeler or a cheap sxs. Know of any?

Here are some from Smith's Sports Cycle in Tuscaloosa
That's where we used to buy all of our ATV's. I've still got two Honda Big Red three wheelers from Smith's at my grandmother's in Eutaw

These?
I wish they could reconstruct them to put the two tires in the front and one in the back

Yes. Those things can get through the woods like nothing else, but I flipped them too many times for comfort growing up. I don't know if I'll want my boys riding them if they're still running when they are old enough
