I just got a call from a buddy who is in a bind and needs cash right away and wants to sell his one year old DPMS AR-15 for only $1000. It's got a quad rail, eotech sites, a flashlight, a front pistol grip and basically is pimped out to the max. I know it's an inexpensive AR but he put at least $1000 into it, the eotech alone is over $500 new. I'm gonna buy it, if anything ill just post it on Backpage and make a few hundred bucks, but are they good guns? I have a bushmaster and a colt "pre-ban" and they just have regular scopes and flash suppressors, nothing fancy like this. How do DPMS ARs shoot compared to Colt and Bushmaster?

I'm not a fan, but several people are. With the EOTech, thats a no brainer, get it if you can.

I'd buy it for 1000 in heart beat if it has an EOtech on it

I would buy it and flip it. Or if he is a close friend, hold it for him for a month or two. Offer to sell it back to him, if he says no then sell.

buy it, play with it, sell it.

but sell it fast before the craze ends. but even so, you ought to at least make your money back off of it. some quad rails are very inexpensive, so that may or may not affect the value at all. :) good find, u lucky bastard.

btw, what eotech model is it?

This is probably what I will do unless I really likes how it shoots.

When my father died in 1998 he left me 48 guns and have you ever seen me start a thread on here, or even post, where I bragged? If I wanted to brag I could but its silly to brag about something you can buy....I save the bragging for accomplishments!

My buddy is going thru a divorce and since then had become hooked on drugs, he needs to sell this just so he has gas money to drive back to Texas and get the rest of his shite. I kinda feel bad, and I will give him a few months if he wants to buy it back, but since he is all fricked up these days he doesn't need a gun, he would just spend any extra money on drugs and I highly doubt he will be buying it back, he has A LOT of other really nice pieces he is going to need to sell once he gets back to Texas and ill post them on here so you guys can get some smoking deals He isn't an Internet guy so he has no idea about backpage or anything like that.

ETA: He didn't know the eotech model off of the top of his head but he is gonna get me all of that today. He said was like $550 new a year ago.

Probably a 512 model or something along those lines.

Its a good deal at normal prices and a great deal at todays prices. Keep or sell, now or a year from now and you will at least get your money back.

I know financially the deal makes total sense but have you guys shot them? Are they crap or just inexpensive?

I have two and one is an issued duty gun with several thousand rounds through it. I have not had any issues with it or my personally own rifle.

I have a DPMS lower on this and it shoots very well. I honestly don't understand some of the hate for DPMS. No, it's not a Daniel Defense or Novaske but it's a solid gun IMO:

I used several DPMS parts to build mine and all seem to work well. My lower is Stag Arms though and that's the part that counts the most.
