Lots of pine woods and dog running. Deer population is not good unless you have a tract of land that has been managed well.

Another poster here has a place in Poplarville, and they basically only have does and hogs. Lease next to them seems like it is filled with outlaws, so I'm sure they don't manage it well. Property is pretty much all pine trees too. IIRC, he has around 900ac to hunt

I have done a LOT of turkey hunting over there and a fair amount of deer hunting. All of it on public land. Turkeys are pretty easy over there but heavily pressured. Deer back in the day I would kill 3-6 a year in Desoto no monsters but consistent hunting.

I looked at some property in poplarville once. 5000 acres and ten members. I thought it was the best deal ever until I looked at the 10 foot pines covering 90% of the property. I'm not a trophy hunting snob but I can't stare at red clay and gravel and pray I see a doe.
