Update
Got my Bees the first week of March and they seem to be doing great and are building out the empty frames, the guy i bought them from gave me 4 frames of bees and one of stores. two days later the were zipping around with full pollen loads and a 2018 queen laying like crazy.
Had to leave and head off to work for a month or so and threw an excluder on top and a medium with empty frames above it and plan to add a second brood box under the first when I return.
May have been the wrong thing to do but wanted to give them a bit of room but not too much.
Hope everyone else's hives are doing well.

That’s great. I really can’t offer much advice since I just installed 2 nucs this past weekend. I’m gonna try running all feels without a Queen excluder. If there is one thing I’ve learned you can ask 10 Beeks the same question and get 10 different answers.
I’ll take a bunch of pics next time out and try and post them.

I made four swarm traps. One has been occupied for the last week and a half. Checked two more today. One looks like bees are moving in and the other has a few hanging around. I'm pretty pumped.

Sweet. I’m behind on putting out traps but would love to catch some free bees.

I sat out two nuc boxes with some old comb on a few frames in them before heading off for work, wont be back for a while but am hoping something moves in while I am gone.
Both are within sight distance of a 5,000+ hive operation so I am hoping that improves my odds a bit.

Mine seem to be doing fine and are building out comb pretty well on the empty frames I put in the supers from all appearances.
Seems they are really taking to the flow super from the pics my wife is sending, only my son will pop the top on the boxes and he has been busy.

my queen moved up into my supers and started laying big time... I ended up adding another brood box in between. I have been told once the eggs hatch out of the super, the bees will fill the empty comb with honey and the queen will fill the empty brood box...
On the downside, one of my hives is very weak compared to the others. I assume the queen is about to die out. I was hoping to catch some in an empty nuc but have been unsuccessful thus far.

Interesting. Keep us posted on the results.

I know nothing about keeping bees. What is the bright green dot on that single bees thorax?
Posted on 4/12/19 at 9:53 am to Hog Zealot
That’s the queen. Just makes it easier to find her. Some do it some don’t. It’s a different color for different queen years.

Nope, they seemed to be doing just fine without it.
Had an early bloom in South MS this year and just did not see the need as they were placed in the middle of 5 acres of clover and pollen was dropping off everything surrounding it.

Couple updates
Picked up a swarm last week and also my sister had a big swarm but they were too high in tree for me to get. Friend caught a swarm last week too. Must be time
The swap i did on the bee boxes when the queen moves up inti the super worked well. All the brood hatched and the comb is now filled with honey and queen moved down into the new (second) brood box
Hoping I catch 2 to 3 more swarms this year to get me at 6 hives

I have caught four swarms now. I made the traps the same size as a box and have been able to add frames to them. I'm not sure how long I have to get them into a proper box. I am also unsure of the relocation process. They say three feet or three miles. Three of the traps are located within a hundred feet of my "apiary". Should I move them straight to the "apiary" or just to boxes under the tree they are in for now?

I’d let them get established and then move them to avoid robber bees.
When we moved our nukes, we just pulled frames and put them in deeps. No issues

Put my 2nd deep on a week ago and drawing foundation out good so far. No swarms for me. Wish I could get just one.

I moved the swarm that set up in a nuc box this morning to a deep super. They had filled the three frames I had and then just attached to the box. It was slam full. I made a pretty big mess but left most for them to clean up. I should have checked a few weeks ago but couldn't. I broke my foot and can't put any weight on it. This has been a huge challenge.
