quote:Wow. Do you remember Nichol's Toy Store? How about Meyer's Grocery? Both were on Columbia Street. My dad had a shoe store across the street from Meyer's.
The woman turned out to be the daughter of Jim Frederick (Frederich?) the owner of the five and dime across the street from the Star cinema. Small world.
I lived around the corner from Bruce Cucchiara (RIP), catty corner from Tom Champagne, not far from Russell Burke (RIP), down the street from Mark and Chris Alkire.

No. I just saw where you posted your age. I was thinking you were closer to Smokes age. Late 50s early 60s. You would have possibly caught the tail end of the girls. KM MMM

A good judge and a good man. I will miss him.
I rode my bike down to 4th street launch this afternoon and holy hell it was slammed. It looked like July 4th. I gotta say, riding bikes around old Covington the last couple days and seeing so many folks sitting on porches, outside playing with their kids, walking, etc. is really cool to see. I’d like to consistently see more of that when all this shite passes.

I took my skiff about a mile north of the Boston St. bridge the other day and there were even boats up there. Lots of kayakers/paddleboarders out and about. We’re lucky to have such a beautiful river system here.

I thought Smoke was a year older than me. Didn't he graduate in '72?
I am totally stumped. I can't think of any more M name large families. Will have to enlist memory help from my ex.
Okay. Sister Ann?, brother John (graduated in '73?), brother Reuben? Starts with Ma. I can picture some of the other kids, but having trouble with name recall.

You got it.
I had to go back and look, you said 64, not 46. I was getting confused for a moment.

Yay! That took long enough. I have been gone from there for almost 40 years, so my memory is bad. My sister still lives there. She could hit St. Paul's with a rock out of her front door. My parents and oldest brother died in the span of a year and a half a few years back.
So then, you are the son of one of the 12. Do you know who BobABooey is?

Joe’s Shoe Store?
I remember the Western Auto, Ben Franklin, World of Sports, Tugy’s, Foxhole, Madison-Nez, Haik’s, etc.
I’m a little younger than some of the posters here, apparently. Someone mentioned the Alkires...I’m closer to Leslie’s age (cheerleader turned doctor). Mid/later 50’s.

I can’t imagine 2 nicer people. I think they had a younger brother?

There was two but you are probably thinking of the older. SM

I’ve caught there my entire life. Every eddy and drop off has good fish potential. Ant thing blocking current has a scoured out hole downcurrent of it. Fish hold in these spots all day. Get downcurrent of target throw whatever you want upcurrent of object and let it drift freely by target. Keep line tight .Have fun. Hardbait soft bait or spinner all will work when clear stable water conditions exist.

No, earlier than Joe's. It was across the street from Foxhole. My brother and Frank McGlocklin who owned Foxhole were very good friends. And Clarence Saltalamacchia (Maison Nez) was a friend too. My other brother was an electrical contractor in Covington.
We used to always be on that river. Many fond memories of skiing, fishing, swimming there.

I have seen it, but haven't been on there in a couple of years. Thanks for reminding me of it.
