Don't shoot them in the head, they stiffen up and spray....body shot.

Damn I was going with the sudden death head shot. Should I go with 12ga 6 shot to the chest? If I don't throw cage and all in the pond I may carry him a few hundred yards from the house and execute him.

When I was a kid, once I was bird hunting with a guy and his rookie dog... light rain, had been raining for days...

this dog chases a skunk into a thicket and tangled enough with him to get sprayed... so this now white dog was turning this yellowish-green color.... the guy grabs that dog, and I'm not sure if he was trying to rinse him off or drown him in a huge puddle... funny as hell... I'm not what was worse for the dog... the skunk or the puddle...

after that crap... our hunting was over... and the car we were in (thankfully not mine), was a Chev Nova... so the dog rides home in the trunk... and was damn lucky to get a ride at all that day...

good luck with your skunk!

yeah we had a dog vs skunk episode at the house about a 1 1/2 years ago. Trying to prevent that from happening again.
Last encounter my dog caught a skunk and ripped it to shreds in my back yard. The smell was unbearable to say the least. My FIL came over to dispose of it for me because I was at work. He got out there with a shovel and scooped all the pieces of the skunk up. Little did he know, that he had stepped in all the "spray" that was all over the ground. It stunk so bad that my wife and kids had to go spend the night with the inlaws. Back to the "spray" on the bottom of his feet, he tracked it into their new suburban and then in their house. MIL's suburban and their house stunk pretty bad for a few days.
The real problem was with my 125lb american bulldog. She had that shite all over her. I googled a recipe that neutralized the smell pretty good on her, but it was a bitch getting her in the bathtub and washing her multiple times. To say she hates a bath is a understatement. I could not get the cleaner in her eyes, so I was unable to get the smell off of her head. That was also where it was the most intense. She lives in the house mostly, and she stunk for about 6 weeks
Hoping to catch that SOB and get rid his arse before he sprays the dog

my dad had one living under his shed. We put a coon trap out with cat food in it. The next morning he was in the trap. I shot it with the 22 mag in the head and tossed him way down the road in the woods.

Next time I will trap it but get a big old blanket to put ove the cage. Walk up holding the blanket and cover the cage with it. Then go someplace and release it.

Don't shoot them in the head they will release their juice. Shoot them through the ribs with a .22 or if in a live trap do what the guys said and hook it up to the exhaust.

The best deskunker is the same scent killer you use deer hunting or make your own out of peroxide, baking soda and dawn dishwashing soap.

Cat food or sardines should be good enough for bait.

That's what I washed the dog with last time. It worked good. Sure hope I don't ever have to use it again though.
I didn't catch him this morning but its on now. I'm off the next 7 nights and I'm staying up to check trap frequently tonight. Also baiting it with sardines and cat food. Should I use the sardines in mustard sauce or in oil

Use the oil. The mustard will burn the poor little guy. Call me later I might run down there this weekend. Dont check the trap at all until the next morning all the activity will keep them away.
