Anyone have any experience with a Toyota T-100?

Moved to Indiana about a month ago, and there's a guy in town that has a '97 model. Garage kept. Looks super clean from the facebook pictures. Only thing is is that it has the 3.4L V6 motor. If I'm not mistaken, this is the same motor that was in the same year Tacomas. How well did this full-size truck perform with that motor? I can only imagine it being sluggish, but I could be wrong.
eta: this isn't the truck from above, but i can see myself doing this to it...

Those T 100s weren't really much bigger than the Tacomas were back then. I'm guessing that engine will be a DOHC, somewhere around 190 HP. It aint gonna be a hot rod, and you don't want to pull a heavy load with it, but for a driver, it should have all the power you need.

Speaking as a former Toyota parts counterman and parts manager from 1997-2007, the T100's were solid midsized trucks.
No frills, bells or whistles. From the pics you posted it looks like an SR5 model. Has chrome package and upgraded wheels so it was a more "top of the line" model. The 3.4 was a solid motor. The older 3.0 motors were the ones with the head gasket issues that Toyota created an extended warranty campaign for. Honestly, my biggest concern with that truck would be frame rust being its a northern-kept truck. Although I don't recall ever hearing of any frame rust issues with the T100's, the Tacomas from that time frame had bad issues, especially in Northern areas with snow and salt. Be sure to inspect the frame thoroughly!

I’m currently in an ‘06 TJ Wrangler. 4.0L with 33s. I can barely maintain 60-65 on the interstate on the way to work.
How would that compare?

I expect, it will be much better. Why don't you test drive it?

Well, I’m in the process of trying to sell my Wrangler before I go and look at another vehicle.

Go test drive it, and explain the situation to the owner. He might be interested in a trade, you never know.

4x4? You dont see many of those. I know someone that has one for his "rig runner" he has had it for about 6 years and it just keeps going.

They aren't bad. MPG isn't the best, won't tow the world, but it is a solid driver.

No, they were bigger than the Tacomas back then. They just aren't bigger than the Tacomas now. Hell, the first Tundras are just a little bigger than the new Tacomas.

My cousin had a T-100 in high school in the late 90's. We put that truck through some shite at camp in Greene County, AL, I don't remember how it drove, but it was reliable and he drove it for a while

Certainly not a steal, but who knows. That truck may be good for 300k miles

If no rust i'd probably buy that.

i added this pic to the OP. it's not the truck that's for sale, but i think it would look good with some all terrains and a leveling kit. the more i look at it, the more i want it seems like.
for what it's worth, my '06 wrangler only has 89,000 miles on it and i'm asking $11,000. no bites as of yet.

One important thing you need to know about that truck: When was the last time, that the timing belts were changed? If it's been a while, you're going to need to do that right off the bat. Probably a 600 dollar job. That needs to be done every 60,000 miles.
If you can do it yourself, the belts are probably around 300 bucks.

Buddy had one in high school, truck was run into a ditch, flipped in a field, and that baby doll just kept going

the T100 is the truck that turned into the tundra, they are good trucks but the 3.4 v6 is a weakling.
what you are looking at is a 97 tundra in reality before tundras existed
