To the cat fishermen, how long did it take you to stop bracing for massive impacts? I grew up fishing offshore in 18-22 foot bay boats, so I was conditioned for the full body shock absorption.

I still do it when I go on a cat. Stand on my toes and buckle the knees waiting for the slam.

That wasn't as bad as getting used to the way they lean on the turn.

Man, I remember when I was a teenager, we'd get back to the dock and it would feel like my kidneys were bruised as hell. No telling what kind of internal reaction was causing those pains.

The best is staying at a motel with no walls to speak of after a rough day on the water. Never fails, somebody goes to wash hair and when they close their eyes, bam! into the wall.

I actually love that feeling. Hell, when I get to that point of drunk when things start spinning, I close my eyes and ride it. Needless to say, I'm not prone to sea sickness.

Like ST said, you get in there, that water hits you, you start relaxing, close your eyes, and there she goes.

Quick side story. Last year we were trying to bring some lemons out of a little bunch of sharks that showed up at the rig. I bring one up to the boat, and when I go to cast to it, the whole crew comes to the side of the boat that I was on to see said lemon. Well, the boat shifts as I'm mid-cast and I lose my balance. Somehow I was composed enough to drop the rod into the boat as I went in head first.

Well, with all the sharks in the water, I felt like Richard Prior in Bayou Manchac. I get them to cut the motors and get back on board. Well, they were doing some significant work on the rig, so they had a large crew on deck working that got to see the whole thing. I got a standing ovation.

I've actually dove quite a bit, so I'm not totally terrified of sharks in the open water. Still, it was unsettling...

You can get there faster than me and you can beat me back to dock and say you won the race. But she does run in the 50s. That will be the only victory you will enjoy unless getting doused with water is a category, then you may win 2 trophies. But hey the "new" Cape Horns aren't nearly as wet as the old ones. Maybe even less so when you learn how to use the trim tabs. I'll be happy if I can just manage a few snapper, I'm good with half limits. Other trophy can be cobia or mangrove I'll let you pick.

Lol I know how to use tabs they were working incorrect

Half limits? You don't have any confidence in yourself? Anyone can catch a limit of snapper!

But hey here is something we can agree on donzi fountain and contender are pos
