20 years ago, it was nothing but War Eagles. Now it's mostly Havoc with an occasional Excel, Edge, or Ambush. Had to go with what's in mane!
I ordered that exact rig but went 1656 with the 4 stroke 50. Pissed because I ordered mine in March and was told 4-6 weeks... Still waiting...

My buddy bought that same rig, and we used it this year. It was a beast. Handled the timber well, and would scoot!! I ordered mine in September and got it on the last day of duck season this year

I almost told them to give me my deposit back and go with an Edge but the Edge I wanted would have to be ordered as well. I am ready to get this thing in the water but it hasn't left Fordyce, AR yet...

Anyone have experience with the larger models? I see they have 200+ HP outboards. Honestly I have never seen one bigger than a 50HP

Yep. Have a 2016 2 stroke 115hp on a 20 foot Aluminum semi V with tunnel hull and jack plate. Boat throws itself on top of the water and you better be holding on if you hit it.

Had a 40hp 2 stroke on a 16/52 years ago and the old Tahatsu was a beast but it sucked gas. These new fuel injected 2 strokes are really good with gas. Not as good as a 4 stroke but plenty good for me. These motors remind me of Johnsons back in the 70s. They just run.

You were told incorrect information

Find some knowledgable tohatsu mechanics

I run a 2016 40hp 4stroke tohatsu on a 1656 Alweld with a 15" semi-clever prop....me and loaded to fish 40mph

I have a 1999 m50d.

I have been running this thing balls out for a year trying to kill it off so I can justify purchasing a newer 70hp.

Always WOT. Run it in marsh mud prop churning giant plumes of muck. Abuse abuse abuse of all stripes.

It.
Wont.
Die.

Put a 40 horse 2 stroke tiller on my express about 7-8 years ago. Love it. I can't think of one thing I don't like about it. It replaced a 40 horse 4 stroke Yamaha and there is no comparison. The tohatsu our performs it hands down. Gets run probably 2-3 times a year since I. bought my skeeter and never gives me any bullshite.

Have zero experience with the 4 stroke Tohatsu, but I don't see how it can be any better then the 2 stroke. lol

How much did the motor cost you, if you don't mine me asking?

Check out Backwoods Landing, they list the lowest price they can advertise them.

A fella that docks his trawl boat at my Uncles Shrimp dock has a 250 HP Tahotsu on a 27' Carolina Skiff EW. He's been running outboards all his life putting a couple 1,000 hrs a year on them and said its the best motor he's ever run so far, he started using it last year towards the end of the May season.

Nissan is the same a Tahotsu, Tahotsu also make some of the smaller Mercury engines.

I have a 40hp 2-stroke on my '97 SeaArk and it still runs like a champ. I would definitely recommend
