Was deer hunting in south Texas a few years ago and decided to take a nap up on top of a little mesa. When I woke up I looked up and there was a coyote about ten feet away from me staring right at me who seemed to be just as surprised as I was. He ran off as I tried to get a shot off at him. As soon as I fired 20 or more coyotes took off running from the underbrush in every direction. Startled me more than scared me but those suckers had me surrounded and I'm pretty sure had bad intentions.

Speaking of hogs, we don't have a ton of them in northern AL. But, there's a good infestation of them on one of the management areas where I hunt. I was out there one day after hunting season had closed, just walking around, shooting some photos and stuff. My daughter and my doberman were with me. My dog ran off around a corner into a planted field. I heard grunting and he came hauling arse back around the corner with a big pig right behind him. I had my .45 and was reaching for it when the pig veered off and went back the way it came. I was glad because it was close and coming fast. That got my heart rate up a little there for a second.

Never been charged by anything canine but a pack of wild dogs. Killed 2 after 2 charges, other 3 decided to leave the zip code. Son had a pig charge him squirrel hunting. He somehow got between the sow and her piglets. I will say several years ago was charged by a 6 point, twice, second charge i shot him point blank in the head, scared the crap out of me

The sound of coyotes howling at dusk when I was leaving the deer stand after killing a deer.

Your adrenaline gets going and you lift the whole deer up by the legs taking it back to your truck

had a black one track me to stand I could see him coming for several hundred yards dont know his intentions but he is now a foot warmer on my lazyboy - PS wildlife and fisheries estimated each coyote is responsible for killing 7 deer a year-- we killed most on our lease in Quittman Miss last year and all have seen many more deer this year - not counting pets they kill -- KILL EM ALL

And positively disgusting.

You ought to be better than that. Bet you call yourself a "sportsman".

Down vote away, I don't care.

We have a pack at our hunting club that will let loose right before last shooting light and the yapping and howling will get the blood pumping walking back to the truck. We have a healthy population of black bears on my club and walking up on them in the dark will get your heart pumping. I walked up on one during bow season when it was still dark. Heard something walking and turned on my head lamp to see a good size boar bear about 10 yards away. He hauled arse and I made a brisk walk to my stand. 10 minutes later and he is back out eating my corn pile. 2nd close encounter was when I was walking back to the truck opening weekend and there was a sow and two cubs at the skinning pole about 20 feet from the truck. She back off but was never far out of sight.
