We're truly spoiled fricking rotten down here.
that's for sure.

I think my favorite part of saltwater is the variety of species. We do a lot of offshore-lite/nearshore fishing so there is really no telling what's on the hook when the drag starts screaming.

Plastic worms and brush hogs. Period. I have tried everything else and nothing catches like those two for me.

Especially chatterbaits and frogs. This board loves them, and I cant catch shite with them.

I know you said videos don't really help, but check out Flukemaster on YouTube. He's got some really good videos with good explanations.

Tx rigging

Jigs

Tx rig is extremely versatile. You can work many different baits many different ways. If you really don't know how to fish it, force yourself to learn. It has been a skunk buster for me many times. One rule of thumb is to use the lightest weight you can get away with.

A jig can be fished almost identical to a Tx rig, but I mainly use it around cover. It has a larger profile and is usually a big fish bait. Just keep in mind that there is no "one and only" way to fish these. Both can do a lot

Agreed he has a lot of really good stuff that applies to fishers of bass in the south :)

What's a hybrid soft plastic?

Like tubes, all the strange lizard/crawfish/brush hog things.

When I think of soft plastics I think worm or lizard.
