Been gone a while from TD.com. Don't really have a dog in this fight, but I've noticed that you seem to always be in fights on here. Coincidence?

There is a difference between using trail cams just to see what is out there, and using them to get a sporting advantage. I don't have a problem with the former.

This still has not been explained.

Idea! Put a game camera on top of a feeder. Call it, feeder-cam, cam-feed-newton, camerama-ding-dong, cam-cheese. WSU.

SEC Rant?

seriously though, i think youve made your point. Any attempt youre making now is strictly for trolling purposes. And not even a very good attempt.

Let me ask you this. No let me ask ya'll this and it maybe another stupid question. Do ya'll put cameras where there is no food plot? Seems like every picture I see on this board from a game camera, there is a feeder in the back ground.

Yes. Put them on major trails or fire lanes. They are not always put on corn or some source of food.

i think this thread is full of stupid. it could be a very good subject with good discussion but over 70% of it is off topic and not going anywhere.

I place cameras mostly over feed stations since that is the best place to be able to judge the herd. I dont hunt over feeders for deer.

I do hunt over my food plots.

I have some cameras on natural and manmade funnels that get a lot of traffic.

I have some on major human traffic points to monitor for trepassers.

I have some I place on gut piles to monitor the predator population.

I'm sure it will be surprising to you but none of my cameras (or those of anyone I know) are loaded with ammo and focused on a bait source.

I'm back, and guess what, I've killed deer before. Over bait too. Boy what a hunt they were. Was driven out to a field. Dropped off and pointed toward the stand. Climbed up the stand, waited for daylight. Deer came mingling out, closer, closer, closer. Hardly ever put there head up because of the food on the ground. Not planted food, but broadcast food. Picked the biggest one out, bam, one shot. Never had to shoot more than once at all the deer I've killed. Probably no more than 100 yds. Now thats sporting. I don't see anything wrong with feeding deer during the off season, but not during. And by the way I can out duck hunt any of you posers, anytime

If you have a problem with hunting over bait, even though it isn't illegal, why did you do it? And multiple times?

And I will not bite to your duck hunting comment. But, I'd bet that you think using decoys is unsporting as well

I'm not trying to start a rant, I just don't believe its very sporting to hunt over bait that is all. And like I said, I don't see any wrong in game cams. This is why I don't deer hunt. Thought about bow hunting a few times, it seems a little more sporting, but am 54 and have bad shoulders. Probably couldn't pull one back far enough to drop anything. And I guess the duck thing might of upset a few of you , but let me tell you I would kill twice as many if I could put bait in my decoy spread. The only reason I hunted and killed those deer because I was invited. And have been invited back several times, and have declined because of that. Now, on the other hand a trip to Colorado up in the mountains would sound like fun. I would have to borrow a rifle though.

In the last club I was in, I never once hunted over or even near bait. I knew two guys well that did. I got twice the number of shots as those two guys combined.

I used a climber and rarely climbed the same tree twice in one month.

If you want to know, not think you know, what your herd consists of in an effort to maximize your management efforts, you have 2 choices:

Live in the woods counting deer.
Game Cams.

Without game cams, managing large ranches in a quality way would be almost impossible.
