Specs should be moving more in that area in the next month-6 weeks.

Are they strict about drinking as far as a few discrete beers? Specifically for night time fishing.

I fished it once. I kept reading good reviews on rodnreel about night fishing it in the spring and fall. Went out one night, had no issues drinking a few beers.
Of course, we were the only ones out there. Being that I wasn't going out in a boat, it never even occurred to me to check the damn weather. After about a half hour out there, the wind did a 180 and kicked up to 20 knots, the temp dropped 20 degrees and it started pouring rain. I had no idea a front was coming until it did.
Haven't seen recent reports, this was a few years ago. Supposedly it does well in spring and fall, at the same time people with piers/docks on the north shore report success, fishing the lights at night.

You know this. I ask because I believe the sign at the front says no alcoholic beverages but could be one of things that isnt enforced unless there's a big group of people tearing it up or someone acting a fool...

It does say no alcohol but that never stops anyone. I've seen it out there. I've only been out there once. Did do any good, a lot of the guys had dead or live bait. One dude brought up a 10lb black drum, nice fish but I didn't see anything else.

you would do much better, pretty much anywhere else that fishing off that pier.
May I suggest the rock jetties at Mandeville Harbor?

Good suggestion, but kinda looking for something low key, just to kinda hang out and catch whatever's biting. Not too serious or else I wouldn't bother with shore fishing.
