It’s one of our options... wife likes the forester. I don’t have a clue on what they will negotiate off.
I’m shopping a few other vehicles in the 38-43k range and have some ideas on what they will do.

Back story. 8 month old RDX got totaled about 2 weeks ago by a drunk driver while it was parked. The wife is thinking about getting something other than the RDX.... need a vehicle by this weekend...

No one here is dumb enough to admit it if they have. This is a soccer board thread or possibly one for the OT

You could probably get a Tahoe for that. All of the Jap cars share the same characteristics. They are more concerned about their processes then anything else. So you will get a meh interior and weak engine.

No it isn’t...

If I wanted to get answers from people like you I would’ve posted it on the OT and got the stereotypical lesbian jokes.

Unfortunately a dumbass smoked my car and now I have to do something quickly so all options are on the table. Including this one.

Nothing good to add then go play in the OT.

Friend of mine in Butte Larose got one to run up and down the levy road with the all wheel drive and she loves it. They don’t give them away though.

Coincidentally, my buddy is a lesbian. But it’s a great car. Really, it’s a great car. If the wife gets to choose, she will love it.

No full size SUVs...
I’m asking if anyone has dealt with them specifically... that’s all. I have emailed all the dealerships with regards to a price like I did last time I purchased. This is something new from an option standpoint. Just doing my homework.

I have a 2016 Forester and have loved it. Love the AWD. Gets fine gas mileage. Tons of room, especially with back seats down. I don’t care about getting it dirty in the field or putting all my hunting stuff in the back.

Edit: Got mine at Harvey Subaru in Bossier. They came down a few grand off sticker if I remember correctly.

Not necessarily what I had in mind for it... but nice.
I just noticed the guy emailed me back. Basically 1500 off the sticker, got to be shitting me right?

Y'all can come drive our Volvo XC60 if that's one in the running. Be tough to find one in the low 40's since they send them to the dealer all optioned out (which is why we special ordered ours).

Were an option till I priced them... they have gone up like what 6-10k more than last years model I think.

Looked at them before we got the RDX, but the wife didn’t care for them... well at least the way you sat in them I should say.

That dumbass hit the car while we were at traps the other night....

My wife drives the outback, 2015 model & it’s been a great car for her & my daughter. We went with the limited model and got a pretty good deal @ Harvey in Bossier.

That's a helluva way to end dinner. How does one total a car on the side of a straight road? People shouldn't be going fast enough right there anyway.

The 2018s are completely different than the last version, whole different car company now. They start at 41, we got one trim option up, but with none of the wizbangery that drives the price up. It's a very comfortable, very safe, AWD small SUV. Interior is killer.

Yeh.... I researched a good bit on them. Don’t really give a shite about the jokes about them.
The only thing I really couldn’t find as I said was what they would come off the sticker. $1500 seems like a slap in the face. I got way more than that off on the Acura, which I knew they didn’t move much on.

Mama BFIV has had two of them, both Legacies. both of them totaled in deer collisions. She bought a new VW Golf this last time. Has higher ground clearance than the Subaru, better fuel mileage, and handling. I will admit that both of the Subies would go well in the snow. Haven't had a snow yet to check out the Golf. The Subaru and the Golf are both comparable in price.

People!

I need info on the negotiating part with a dealer!
I’m not worried about the car. I need to know if $1500 off is the equivalent of kicking me in the balls. I was thinking at least 3k?

A friend of mine loves Subaru and has had several older one (he a rebuild/project car guy).

As to the Forester, CR loves it, it's the highest ranked SUV that size, rating marginally (84) better than the Honda CRV(83) and the Toyota RAV4(81).

Based on historical surveys for the brand/model the predicted reliability of all 3 is a 5/5. Predicted Owbner satisfaction is 4/5 for the Forester & Rav4, 5/5 for the CRV.

If the consumer reports ratings are of value to you, it seems that you'd be doing good with any of those 3 so the Forester seems like a good investment, but apparently, good luck on getting a decent price.

We looked at a Subaru once and the dealer didn't budge much on the price then either. I think they control the production of those cars pretty close.

I like the engine.

We didn't buy it but I did come away impressed and would certainly not mind owning one.

From what I’ve heard about them, they don’t do much negotiating at all. What you see on the sticker is what you get. Family member bought one recently and that was the report from their buying experience.
