I was looking at Optics Planet and NSS for something to stick on one of my ARs.

I want something with a red dot 2-4 MOA. I don't know much about the reflex sights, and think I would prefer an ACOG or AimPoint Comp type setup.

I don't know anything about the Burris or the Bushnell brands, but they are less expensive.

They look like a cheaper version of the EOTech, Trijicon, and Aimpoint brands.

I am looking to avoid a huge sticker shock, but don't want a piece of junk that is all show and no go....

Anybody have any luck with anything not named EOTech, Trijicon, and Aimpoint?

Bushnell and Vortex make quality red dots.

Can you clarify what you mean here? The ACOG is a fixed power magnified optic, and the Aimpoints are non-magnified red dot sights. They're both built like tanks. The ACOG does not use batteries, whereas the Aimpoints do...but the batteries last YEARS without turning them off.

If you're looking for something lightweight, check out the Vortex Sparc. It has a tube like the Aimpoint Micro and a 2 MOA red dot. LINK

If you would prefer a 30mm tube like on the Aimpoint Comp series, Vortex makes the Stikefire. It has a 4 MOA red dot, or a model with red OR green dot.

I really like Vortex...they make good optics. Even their budget optics carry their VIP warranty. You should be able to find the Strikefire for around $165, and the Sparc for $179-$199.

Yat's what I'm talking about!

I am looking at purchasing either. I will check out the ones you listed right now. I was leaning toward that Bushnell 2x Illuminated reticle that looks a lot like an ACOG. Now, I am going to check out your suggestions. Thanks.

Vortex throws in a screw on 2x magnifier with their red dots, but it's not worthy of the optic itself.

Keep one thing in mind though, brah. You can pick up an Aimpoint PRO for $400 with mount. IMHO it's the best deal going in red dot sights. The battery sucks on it compared to the Comp M4s and Micros though...one battery will only last about 5 YEARS on the PRO!

A friend of mine told me to look at lucid optics. Apparently a lot of people like them especially for the price

Aimpoint just came out with the Pro model. I am not sure what the difference is but they have awesome reviews and are only $400.

I was in the same boat and did a lot of Youtube research. Finally went with Bushnell TRS-25. Haven't shot it yet. But it looks great and got a UTG medium riser for full cowitness. Paid $99 but sent in a rebate from Bushnell for 20%.
