Buddies went down this weekend but didn't catch much due to wind. Weekend before last, we caught trout on drains on north side of Lake Palourde area north of La 1 and drains in marsh west of Fourchon. Any hole in deeper canals, you can catch white trout jigging double rigs.

I heard tons of rat reds, a good bit of bull reds, and slot reds are hard to come by.

Curious if there is any live shrimp at the marina’s or any live bait available. Got plenty of plastic, just like to have live just in case. Thanks.

Bridgeside had live shrimp 2 weeks ago. They were large though. We were catching small trout so my crew was using a lot of shrimp since the fish would just pull on the tail. Bite was slightly slower with DOA and other shrimp color plastics compared to live once we ran out.

Just to make sure I'm reading this correctly. They caught rat reds and bull reds but slots were hard to come by?

White trout are plentiful under birds, but not many keeper specks. Bull reds were mixed in with the white trout.

Decided Saturday morning to ride up that night. Took a little searching to find a room but found one. Headed to marsh Sunday morning around 7:30. Had limit of reds and few trout by 10:30. Searched around for more trout but only found a few more by lunch. Went back out Monday morning and it was slow slow. Finally got on a few reds around 10 and finished a limit around 12:30. Decided to stay another night due to wreck on 55 turning everything into a cluster on the roads. Got up this am and headed home with a good many reds on the half shell.

I don't see that wind making much of an impact. I'd go if I could.

Struggled on Saturday to find any keepers. Some throw back specks and some white trout. Went more east on Sunday and the water color was better and caught 4 specks over 18”. Live shrimp was the key. Overall, not the best fishing weekend but anytime spent on the island is a good one.
