Harder to find over that way. I might go float a river around my parents. But that's all I know about

Public land duck hunting is tough. You find a spot, people hear you shooting, they come over. Turned a buddy on to a good spot in Saline WMA, he hunted it 3x before I got to go back again.

I do some creek shooting in Kisatchie NF, for woodies. 3 and you are done, plus lots of deer hunters around.

I hunt public land pretty often so I am familiar with how much it can suck. I have had some reay good hunts on public land though. just requires time and effort. I have my own property in Reggio, but the storm ravaged it and it's just not holding ducks without grass in the ponds.

Hey OhFace, I just put up a post on LA sportsman asking about guide services for the West Zone. I don't know jack about the public land there, so I'm wary. If I'm goign to make the drive, want to be sure I'm going to kill some ducks.

Hoping to find someone that can offer us a hunt for a good price (less than $200). Would you be interested?

I know some guys who do very well on TB. I saw a bunch of mixed bag limits last year from toledo. I've fished there my whole life but never hunted it.

I know one hole in the west zone. I hunted it in college and I could put you on a few but im sure it looks like the sahara desert this year.

Unfortunately that's what I am hearing about everything in the west zone. I may try to hunt toledo bend if it comes down to it but I would love to hunt some kind of flooded timber/ pothole area if possible.

Been the prob where I hunt or I would be glad to bring you. I hunt sloughs/flooded timber and they are bone dry with no ducks. When there is back water, you can hunt the bayou as well. The ducks just dont hold on the bayou that runs through there though without any back water, so even though it is flowing good, its no ducks.

ETA: I guess its too deep for them to feed like they do in the shallow backwater, not sure.

Do you have a boat? If so, there are lots of places on the Red River near shreveport, or Lake Bisteneau, or Wallace Lake, Toledo Bend, Caddo Lake, even Cross Lake that are public and certain spots can be very productive.

How much time do you have? Plenty of places in the west zone you can kill lots of birds with that set up. Saline/Larto is worth looking into.

The plan as of now was to head out tuesday after my exam and scout tuesday evening if we can get somewhere early enough and hunt wed thurs fri and sat. I wanted to have a few places to check out so we could drive around and scout all day wednesday if necessary. I was hoping just to get an idea on some public waterways so that I don't have to scout 4 different public areas.
