Couple of danforths and a river anchor. That river anchor sets better than anything in silt and mud. I've drug the danforths before and just don't trust them.

I see several mushroom anchors. Freshwater lakes and marsh only right?

How do you like the Talon so far?
I like it, but I would definitely prefer a 8 or 10 foot power pole. The talon doesn't stick as well as power poles. It's also gotten stuck once, but it has a manual lever to crank it up.

I usually carry two anchors with me;

1. aprox. 8 lb. danforth with 3' of chain attached to 75' of 3/8" anchor line.

2. aprox. 8 lb. danforth with 4' of chain attached to 160' of 3/8" anchor line.

Also carry 150' of extra rope and a couple of ready bow lines.

I'm looking to get a cajun anchor very soon and on inshore trips, dump the 160' anchor set up for the cajun anchor.

I have about six feet of chain on it. Drop it in and let is settle while you back/drift off then tie it off. It gets down into the mud and stays there. I've actually had to get directly over the top of it and let the waves rock it out to get the damn thing up if the mud's deep enough. It's solid as a rock.

Are you using in fresh water? I think I'll stick with the danforth as main anchor in saltwater.
