I'm not a marine architect or anything, but is it not basically common sense that you need the weight and density of fiberglass to ride like a fiberglass boat? Aluminum is too thin and light to ride the same right? I'm sure there is ways to make it better, but hard to be the "same".
Aluminum can be as heavy as u want it to be.... it’s all in Thickness.
I’m an AA fan. I don’t think some understand the hybrid theory. Yes it’s not going to ride like a 28 contender( probably a lot drier!) but it’s not built to do so. It’s a specific boat for specific purpose.

Welcome to the OutdoorBoard.
Would love to see your input here on boating topics when the come up. AA makes some damn fine boats. Maybe one day I can get a ride on one.

Very cool seeing you on the OB.
Ever considered incorporating steps into the hull on your 28'?

That's basically what I was trying to say. You get an aluminum boat for a specific purpose or 3, you don't get aluminum because you want one that rides like fiberglass. If you wanted that you should get fiberglass. You get aluminum for the other benefits that aluminum has over fiberglass.

Shameless fanmail post here.
I'll be starting a build on a 30 or 32 center console next year at the house. Its my own design, but I'd be lying if I said I wasnt trying to mimic some of the features of your boats.

Sure have at the end of the day the 28 is fast enough without them and the cold hard truth is the folks I’m building these for the extra 5 mph that the steps will bring is not of consequence at all
Still might do it though ??

Aluminum boat building can be addictive ??????????
Once u start it give me a ring would be happy to shoot the bull about it and give you some pointers things that will help u get better results with less guesswork

Yeah but when is 5mph extra ever a bad thing?

I'll have to do that.
I'm working on laying it out in delfship on the computer and figuring out how big I actually want (can afford) to make it.
Planned to start this year but I bought a truck instead
I've seen a couple of your boats. Fished next to one all last weekend I think it was a 26'. Looks like a great battle wagon

Speed is nice but I think that the real draw of the step are the gains in fuel efficiency.
