Advice seeked: outboard and the freeze

Hey guys, I have a 250 Yamaha SHO stored outside in the Northshore area and I’m getting her cleaned and prepped for usage again.
My question is about the recent hard freezes we’ve had. I didn’t do anything really to prep for this (I know, I should’ve checked up on this beforehand), but is there anything I should look out for before running it?
Is it best to take it to my mechanic and have them check it out so I don’t compound any issues?
TIA

Do your change your impeller every year? I'm about to do mine. I dont think anything should be different this year. Just regular maintenance.

It’s only a 2 yrs. old. First implement change is not due until the 3 year mark. I’m not close to the hours either.
Had it in the shop about 10 months ago to routine maintenance.

If there was no water in it, it should be fine. Check for lower unit oil leaks (would be pretty obvious) and make sure you have good water pressure from the water pump.

Lower unit. I wasn't so lucky this year.

Mine did the same thing. Not sure where the oil is leaking from though.... where would it leak through? Hoping just a seal.

Mine is out the top of the 2 holes on each side. Shift shaft seal. Obviously i had some water intrusion and didn't catch it.

Guy at work had a 250 merc a free years ago in Texas at his camp freeze up and leak oil and water on him.
Now he hangs several work lights and wraps it. His motor looms like a Christmas tree.
He said he's never fricking going through that again.
Its something I've never though of... Then again I don't own a boat

I haven’t been back to my boat since the freeze. I’m hoping trimming it down and letting the water run out was enough. This thread definitely has me nervous.

As long as the water was drained out you should be fine.
