We just always saved our 3 liter coke bottles. We tied a four foot treated nylon (trotline string) section to the lip of the bottle with a standard catfish hook. You simply screw open the lid, drop in the hook and line, and screw back on the top when not in use. That way the strings and hooks don't become tangled on each other. When we used "noodles" we just tie a four foot section with a hook to one side and when not in use, just wrap it around the noodle and sink the hook into the float. We usually run about two large lawn trash bags full (about 40 jugs)...just a string and a hook, and none were ever on the bottom. Crawfish, cut bait, and bream work wonders, and they'll definitely come up from the bottom to get it. The last time we ran them 36/40 had fish. Cheers

Two lines on the float, one for weight and one for hook, don't frick this up.

this doesn't make a mess when a cat gets on and starts rolling around?
what about tying the hook above the weight so that the hook is up in the water column and the weight is sitting on the bottom?
